My name is Matt Leicester, and I'm the author behind the Kona book series. Writing a children's book is something that I have wanted to do for years, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I am not a writer by nature, as my career has been centered around public safety as a paramedic and emergency manager, so this is definitely different! I am a member of the The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).

When I'm away from work or writing about Kona, I tend to be just as busy! I am an avid fisherman, and you can usually find me either in my kayak or out in a local fishing tournament. Also, I have a wife of over 20 years, and a young daughter who I help coach club volleyball for. And of course, you can usually find my sidekick Kona nearby, along with our other dog Skye.
